I myself debated whether or not to say anything as like Plainsgirl I did not wish to offend or otherwise upset anyone. Least of all the person, or persons in question. Still it is nice to see I'm not the only one thinking those things you all have said. On a similar note, I came across a profile the other day where the guy said he was big down there and h----. THat's pretty much all that was said. I mean is that supposed to impress anyone? I'd rather he have a big heart or big intelligence.

It does seem to be a ----ographic society..and people have allowed things to get to this point. We are objects..what we have, what we don't. How we look, who we don't look like.( Maybe inflatable breasts will help people take me more seriously)! I have to live in this world too, my children have to grow up in it..and we are not ISLANDS..what we do does leave a mark for the next person..so in that sense I feel like I have every right to make a comment. `Where is the person indeeed? You're most certainly right we have all become objects in this world. THere is something very wrong about that too. It wasn't always like this. I want to say it's only been the last 20 or 30 years that this has been going on, but I can't help but get the feeling that it's at least been the last 50 years. It shouldn't matter what we look like, how thin, we are, how big our breasts or other things are. Nor should it matter how much stuff how big our houses or how many cars we have. To be honest the way things are is more than a little frightening and unsettleing to me. You speak of your children Plainsgirl, and I wonder about the kids of today. Has anyone seen the clothes that are being marketed to little children? Especially little girls? Most of it looks like things an older teen or someone in their early twenties would wear. Way to provocative for a girl of six, ten or even fourteen Yikes!!! It's not just limited to fashion either. It's just gotten so mainstream though, that in a lot of ways we've become desensitized THat is unfortunate to say the least. Yeah. I would imagine there is someone who could take care of that problem for him.

`I believe everyone is just too frightened....any excuse will do when you're running..b--bs too small??Don't make enough money..make too much money, don't want kids..have too many kids,not expressive enough..too clingy, not Native enough..too traditional,blah..blah. Children are growing up in a world of just a bunch of scared people escaping into the material..for self-definition and/or comfort I guess.

`Ladies...I happened to see a thread for this last comment tonight and I NEED to comment here..I AM a man who is looking for more than outward appearance..there is only so much s*x you can have..personally...I've got some bad credit,student loans,I'm struggling to get my home business up and running..I'm a single father. I am not Prince Charming..I don't and may never have ripped abs or huge arms..and I've just started working out again..but I am into commitment..I am into intellectual and spiritual conversation..and lots of laughter and romance...but like you,as a guy,I've been measured with standards hard to measure up to. Sure, I'm guilty of looking..men are visual..but in the end..I have to wonder~~what is your favorite color to start with..who are you as a person? Are you someone I can talk to..trust..be with? and no..I'm not fully Native..I'm Scot..'nuff said..

`Thank you for being brave here and responding...I suppose this probably didn't seem like such a friendly space to enter and I sure didn't intend for it to go quite in the direction it ended up. But there's obviously a lot of frustration, on both sides I"m sure, that needs a vent. And I wish I didn't even have to say "sides". Part of the problem, I feel anyway, is all these ways people separate themselves as human beings. I know men have ridiculous standards put on themselves too..but it's these "standards" people need to adopt, in whatever way they're life experience tells them they need to is what I am loathe to. Can we just be people here? Knowing people..not T&A, or your "mama" (and I don't mean you personally), or just an ego boost at someones expense. See, the way I live or present myself may affect the experience of the next person, for good or bad. I am to some degree accountable for that.
